The Latrobe City Council and Neighbourhood Houses Meeting was held today in Morwell. All of the Latrobe Valley Neighbourhood Houses were in attendance. There were several exciting items discussed at todays meeting.
During the meeting, all the Latrobe Valley Neighbourhood Houses signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement with Latrobe City Council. This will provide a valuable networking platform. The agreement will enable Neighbourhood Houses to keep Latrobe City Council up to date with what is happening on the ground in their local area. The council will in turn share valuable local information resources with the Latrobe Valley Neighbourhood houses.
The Latrobe City Council Community Development Officer, Teresa, announced a 40% ($1,000) increase to the Neighbourhood Houses Operational funding. Morwell Neighbourhood House graciously acknowledges Latrobe City Council for such a generous increase in funding.
Each of the Neighbourhood Houses shared their current and planned services and programs. Morwell Neighbourhood House Coordinator, Tracie Lund, updated the group with our current and upcoming events. The current and upcoming events include; the Free Lunch Tuesdays, Lawn Mower Bank, Dress Up week, and the upcoming Emergency Services day planned to take place on Saturday October 19th. Both the Free Lunch Tuesday and the Lawn Mower Bank have been huge successes for the local Morwell community. The Lawn Mowers have been borrowed more than 80 times since the program began last year. Both of these programs could not have been done without the efforts and support from St.Vincent De Paul and Theodora House.
Latrobe City Councils future plans, Latrobe City Council Plan 2013 -2017, mentioned in todays meeting is available online. It consists of the objectives and strategies for Latrobe City Council for the next four years.
Morwell Neighbourhood House graciously acknowledges the ongoing support of Latrobe City Council. We are looking forward to strengthening our working relationship with Latrobe City council.
