Two US guest speakers to visit Latrobe Valley to discuss revitalising coal communities

There are two US guest speakers to visit Latrobe Valley to discuss revitalising coal communities.  Justin Maxson and Lisa Abbott are both from the Appalachian region – once the largest coal-producing regions of the United States.  They will be sharing their wisdom gained from 20 years of helping revitalise coal communities in Kentucky.  Click on the graphic below to download the official flyer.

The event will be taking place on Wednesday 26th April 2017 from 7pm – 9 pm.  The event takes place at the Premier Function Centre, 29 Grey Street, Traralgon.

In order to attend this event, you will need to register online.  This event is FREE and is open to the public.

Justin and Lisa will be sharing their experience of:

  • Ex mine workers transforming old mines into community assets
  • Creating new jobs and more comfortable homes through energy-efficiency programs
  • Local foods, arts and crafts, driving development and creating income
  • Innovative forms of financing for development
  • Bringing the community together around a shared vision for a Just Transition
  • Creating political will for community based economic development
