Today Marks the launch of 2018 NHVIC Budget & Election Campaign.

Why we are campaigning:
• Funding for Neighbourhood Houses has not
kept pace with rising operational costs and the
demands of Victoria’s increasing population. The
issue is particularly acute in Victoria’s growth
corridors, and those suffering the effects of rural
isolation and the loss of employment opportunities
through industry closures.

Key Messages
• Victoria’s rapid growth indicates an increasing
need for more Neighbourhood Houses yet some
Neighbourhood Houses are at risk of closure.
• Victoria’s Neighbourhood Houses have not
received any increase to base funding since
2014 under the LNP State Government when
a small increase was provided to underfunded
Neighbourhood Houses.
• The ALP gave a commitment to invest in
Neighbourhood Houses in the 2014 ALP
Election Platform yet there has still not been any
increase in Neighbourhood House Coordination
Program funding.
• Neighbourhood House Networkers provide vital
support to Neighbourhood Houses and volunteer
committees, yet have not received any increase in
funded hours despite working in an environment of
increasing needs.
What we need:
*Increased Neighbourhood House Coordination Program Funding.
*Increase in the number of State Government Funded Neighbourhood Houses in Victoria.
*An increase in the support for Neighbourhood House Networks.
